So what is Low VOC? Low VOC is those that contain less “Volatile Organic Compounds” (VOC) or VOC Solvents than traditional coatings. They are active ingredients that assist traditional paint in maintaining a “wet edge.”

Volatile Organic compounds, or VOCs, are carbon-containing substances that quickly become vapours or gases. They can be present in paints, coatings and cleaning products. Often silicone based, they are a far cry from old lead-based paints however smell, and toxins can affect people, the fumes also especially for those who have asthma, so the Low-tox option is an answer for many.

Low VOC’s also means non-toxic and no toxic smell, for parents of children with sensitivities who need to decorate their homes, but don’t want strong fumes to lead to disaster, Non-toxic and scent can be a real positive for them.

Nothing is permanent. Homes that once stood hundreds of years ago are demolished and replaced — reduced to rubble, what happens to the materials?

Where do they go? Used for landfill or hopefully recycled. However, asbestos is a sad reminder of products from bygone years that have caused suffering for many. We now live in a time where we can exercise choice and it is pretty exciting. Technology and the ability to analyse microstructures of chemicals and reactions has provided a golden opportunity for new alternative and effective materials.  This is brilliant for us, as when master-crafters to choose their products wisely and know what they are doing- the end result has layers of exciting finishes to offer our clients.

When you have the choice to paint with cleaner renders and paints using sustainable materials, you are choosing for future generations.

Because at the end of the day, we all only have one home, right? It makes sense to look after the place.
